Everything You Need to Know About Apple Arcade and What it has to Offer

Apple Arcade is officially launching on Thursday September 19th alongside iOS 13 but just the other day Apple started to roll out the service a bit early to some users ahead of its launch. Here’s everything you need to know about Apple’s new subscription gaming service and what it has to offer.

Apple Arcade can be found inside of the App Store on your device (it will need to be running the latest update), and along the bottom of the App Store there is a dedicated tab just for Apple Arcade. From here you’ll see a huge collection of exclusive games and suggestions from Apple to help get you started. Apple Arcade comes with a one month free trial so you can jump in right away without paying anything, but after the month is up you’ll have to pay the $4.99 subscription fee in order to continue playing these games.

The good news is there are over 50 plus titles available at launch and by the end of the month there will be around 100 titles in total. There are no limits on the number of games you can download at any given time so you can go right ahead and try out all the games available during your free trial. One key benefit of Apple Arcade games is that there are no ads or in-app purchases for any of the games, so you won’t be interrupted by popup ads and you won’t have to worry about any game content being locked behind in-app purchases. Another great benefit is that the games can all be played completely offline, which means you don’t have to worry about your cell service or Wi-Fi whenever you’re playing these games on the go.

With all of that said the main attraction to Apple Arcade is obviously going to be the games and so far there has been really good feedback on the quality of the games. There are so many great options to choose from at launch like Where Cards Fall, The Pathless, Hot Lava and Beyond a Steel Sky, just to name a few. Surprisingly these games have some amazing graphics, the gameplay is really smooth and solid, and depending on the device the controls are pretty decent, especially when compared to that of many other mobile games.

For a lot of people though it would be a lot more enjoyable to play these games with a controller, and thanks to the new iOS 13 update which allows users to pair their Xbox One or PS4 Dual Shock controllers, this will really help improve the overall gaming experience with Apple Arcade. Family sharing is also included inside of the $4.99 monthly price tag which means you and up to five family members can share the benefits of a single Apple Arcade subscription. Also if you have a Mac or Apple TV and they are running the latest software updates you’ll be able to jump from device to device and pick up where you left off in any of the Apple Arcade games you’ve been playing.

Overall Apple Arcade is looking really promising and seems to have a lot to offer at a reasonable price point. Either way there’s nothing to lose from taking advantage of the free month and have some fun trying out all the new games!
